"Virtual Mountain" is an album I improvised in a single non-stop session on May 29th 2022. Footage of that session is available here: youtu.be/4UsWrk7SL-M

Much of my output is based on ideas I come up with while improvising during my practice sessions, and most of the time it's pretty all over the place and the ideas are there but they're disparate and not fully formed.
So I set myself the challenge of creating a whole album entirely on the spot that was listenable in itself on the first go. I've done lengthy improvs before but never of this length and not deliberately to listen back to later. (There's a stretch of tracks on the Verdris Moth "Autumnals" that I composed via non-stop improv, but those I had to tinker with after the fact to get their structure and form right.)

Initially the improv was free-form, the album had no name or concept, and the tracks were just numbered off, #1,#2, etc. The idea of climbing a mountain came to mind when I listened back to it a couple of months later, so I named the tracks and the album based on that. You might well hear other things in it, so don't take the titles as final!
